I don't know whether iTunes' API allows this - but it would be nice to switch random mode with a keystroke : from tracks to albums to tracks to albums to...

    The API does allow this and Synergy already supports it. See the "Hot Keys" tab in the Synergy preferences. (Synergy Advance supports it too.)

    iTunes has 2 random modes : by track, and by album. You can change it in advanced tab of preferences of iTunes.

    Synergy does not allow to change this option... sorry.

    Ah, sorry, I misunderstood your proposal.

    Well, in the case of the per-album/per-track shuffle mode there is no way to change this using iTunes' AppleScript interface so we'll have to wait until Apple adds it to their AppleScript dictionary. You could send Apple a request:
